The Gaucho Happiness Challenge is a positive, action-based program aimed to enhance student well-being.

Research suggests 40% of a person’s happiness is determined by intentional activities (Lyubomirsky, Sheldon, Schkade, 2005). UCSB Happy is a challenge that provides empirically-based resources and outlines of intentional activities (interventions, articles, etc.) to improve well-being and life-satisfaction. In a large meta-analysis, increased happiness was associated with many other benefits including

better physical health, higher levels of success, and increased social engagement (Lyubomirsky, King, & Diener, 2005).

Utilizing the fundamentals of positive psychology, this campus-wide project aims to assist Gauchos in reaching their goals to thrive and flourish.
